Unattended print kiosks are becoming a real category in India — a machine that takes a file from someone's phone, prints it, and takes payment, with nobody standing behind a counter. If you're evaluating whether to put one in your shop, here's what the Snaprint model actually looks like: the investment, what's included, and how it's different from running a kiosk as a standalone box in a mall.
The core idea: your shop, not a booth
Most people picture a "printing kiosk business" as a free-standing machine you place somewhere and hope people find. Snaprint works differently. The kiosk goes inside an existing shop — often a xerox or stationery shop that's already getting footfall — and turns it into a location that can take orders from anyone's phone, any time, whether or not staff are at the counter.
If you already run a xerox or printing shop, this isn't a new business — it's your existing shop capturing revenue it's currently losing. Shop owners already get WhatsApped a file with "print 2 copies, I'll come by later." That's real demand, but it's untracked and easy to lose during a busy hour. A Snaprint kiosk turns that same behaviour into a paid, self-service order the moment it comes in — including outside your normal working hours.
What's included
Snaprint comes in two hardware tiers — the difference between them is print speed, not features:
| Snaprint S1 | |
|---|---|
| Investment | ₹84,999, ₹1,39,999, or ₹2,99,999, one-time, plus 18% GST (the tiers differ in print speed and capacity; all get the full software and support package below) |
| Optional upgrades | Available on top of any tier — ask during your site visit for current options |
| Hidden fees | None |
| Per-print commission | None — the only per-transaction cost is standard UPI/payment merchant charges, the same fee you'd pay accepting UPI anywhere else |
| Ongoing cost | None — no revenue share, no per-print cut, no monthly fees, ever |
| Kiosk hardware | Snaprint S1, dedicated print/scan hardware supplied by Snaprint (2000-sheet capacity with optional upgrades), 15.6" touch display |
| Software | Snaprint OS, pre-installed and activated |
| Installation | On-site, done by the Snaprint team |
| Starter supplies | Starter paper stock |
| Training | Owner dashboard walkthrough + training session |
| Support | 6 months of software support included, then ongoing indefinitely at no extra cost — support doesn't have an end date |
| Branding | Snaprint shop branding kit |
You own the machine. Snaprint supplies the dedicated hardware and runs the software layer — order routing, payments, the dashboard — on top of it. Snaprint is also preparing a program for shop owners who want to use their own existing printer instead of dedicated Snaprint hardware — details coming soon.
Snaprint is also running a founding partner offer for the first 10 Bengaluru partners: ₹30,000 off the device, plus free maintenance for a year and free internet for three years (complementary, on top of the standard package).
What you actually keep
There's no per-print commission taken out of every transaction — the only per-order cost is the standard payment merchant fee any UPI transaction carries. Snaprint's revenue comes entirely from the one-time hardware sale, not from an ongoing cut of your prints. That's a deliberate structural choice: everything your kiosk earns after that one-time cost is yours, in full.
Actual monthly earning depends heavily on your specific footfall and the per-page rate at your location — a kiosk near a busy college gate will print very different volumes than one on a quiet side street. As a rough way to think about it: estimate your realistic daily print volume based on your current walk-in and WhatsApp-order pattern, multiply by your per-page rate, and subtract only the payment merchant fee — there's no Snaprint commission to factor in beyond that. Ask during your site visit for a volume estimate specific to your location.
Reliability — the honest objection
The most common pushback on any unattended machine is "what happens when it breaks or nobody's there to fix a jam." A few things address this directly:
- You get a live dashboard on your phone — print counts, revenue, ink and paper levels, all visible without walking to the machine. If paper is low or something needs attention, you know before a customer does.
- Support is a Bengaluru team, not a call centre. Snaprint's on-site installation and training happen in person, and support is handled by people who've actually seen the machine, not a ticket queue.
- After the included 6-month support window, continued technical checks, fault support, and device upkeep (things like periodic cleaning and hardware checks) continue at no additional cost — support doesn't have an end date.
Files are encrypted in transit and deleted automatically after each print, so there's no document storage or privacy exposure to manage either.
Launch timeline
The path from applying to going live follows a straightforward sequence:
- Apply — share your shop location and rough daily print volume.
- Site visit — the Snaprint team visits to check space, power, and internet. Takes about 30 minutes.
- Agreement — a one-page agreement. You own the machine; Snaprint supports the software. No hidden clauses.
- Go live — installation, setup, and training, typically around 15 days from payment.
Speed, in practice
The dedicated hardware is built for volume: a typical 7-page black & white document prints in under 60 seconds, start to finish — fast enough that a small queue at a college gate or office cluster clears quickly instead of building up.
Who this is for
- Existing xerox or stationery shop owners who want to capture remote orders they're currently missing, and are open to adding dedicated Snaprint hardware alongside their shop. (If you'd rather keep using your own printer, a separate program for that is in the works — ask the team for updates.)
- Anyone evaluating a low-investment, self-service business near a college, office cluster, or busy local market, where footfall already exists but foot traffic alone isn't converting into every possible order.
Snaprint is also placing a small number of standalone kiosks in high-footfall locations like malls, colleges, and office lobbies — independent of an existing shop. That program is Bengaluru-only for now.
If your shop already has steady daily walk-ins and you're comfortable with a one-time investment rather than an ongoing royalty model, a Snaprint kiosk is built to slot into what you're already running — not replace it.
